Season 7 Episode 14: Quiet in the Chaos: Love as a River (Part 3)

The final session of Quiet in the Chaos invites you to rest in the imagery of a flowing river — steady, cleansing, and always renewing. Meditation is not about forcing the mind to be still, but about noticing what is present and allowing it to pass through without resistance. In this practice, you’ll be guided to release what no longer serves you into the current of Love, making space for fresh possibilities. As the river carries away what you no longer need, you’ll step forward with renewed clarity, peace, and openness to life’s unfolding.

Welcome back to Quiet in the Chaos, the final session in our three-part guided meditation series designed to help you find peace, stability, and Love during life’s most challenging seasons. Whether you are navigating family conflict, uncertainty about the future, or major transitions, these meditations offer a space to pause, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the steady, unshakable presence within you.

I’m your host, Craig Robertson with Robertson + Easterling. We are Mississippi divorce attorneys.  While I am certainly no meditation teacher, I am on this journey with you. To be honest, this series is as much for me, as it is for you.  I have witnessed how the practice of present moment awareness can bring clarity, calm, and resilience during times of personal upheaval — and I believe it can be of real benefit to you as well.

In Part 1, we learned to be still in the midst of family conflict, anchoring in the breath and the present moment.

In Part 2, we rooted ourselves like a mighty oak tree — steady and grounded, but flexible in the shifting winds of life.

And now, in Part 3, we will release and renew by experiencing Love as a river — a steady current flowing through us, carrying away what no longer is of service —and nourishing the space left behind, so new life can grow.

This final meditation invites you to trust the flow, to let go of the need to control every outcome, and to open yourself to the movement of Love.

Whether you are a beginner like me, or you have a deep, longtime practice……… we hope this session offers a gentle space for letting go and beginning again.  Which is what one is always called to do when thoughts arise during meditation.  We acknowledge…………we return to ourselves………… and we begin again.

Life is about beginning again, and so is the practice of mediation. Our hope is that you will carry the stillness and renewal you’ve experienced in this series back into your life, returning to these meditations whenever you need to come back to that sacred space ………in the middle.

To yourself.

Introduction

Meditation is not about forcing the mind to be still.

It’s about learning to notice what is here without being carried away by it.

When the currents of life sweep through our families and relationships, it’s easy to feel pulled and tossed about… that is… without flow.

So today, we will practice moving with Love like a river —

Gentle, yet powerful,

steady yet flowing,

carrying away what no longer serves,

and nourishing the remaining space

Preparation

Now… gently choose a quiet space where you can simply be for these next few moments

— a place that feels safe, still, and free from distraction.

Allow yourself to inhabit this space fully, as if you are giving yourself the gift of presence.

Sit comfortably — perhaps in a chair with your feet planted firmly on the ground, or on a cushion with your legs resting naturally.

Let your hands rest softly in your lap, palms open or gently folded.

If it feels comfortable, allow your eyes to close. You may also simply lower your gaze

Take a slow, deep breath… and as you exhale, begin to settle into the support beneath you.

Feel the weight of your body being held. Feel the ground beneath your feet, steady and unshifting.

Let’s arrive together — right here, in this moment.

Nothing to change,
nothing to force,
nothing to prove.
Just being.

All of you is welcome here.
Every thought,
every feeling,
every breath.

Let’s begin.

Take a slow, deep breath in…
And let it go with ease.

Soften your jaw…
Drop your shoulders…
Let your arms hang loose, like river reeds carelessly swaying gently in still water.
Let a warmth wrap around you
Bathe in it

(Pause 10 seconds)

Picture yourself sitting beside a wide, slow-moving river.
The air is fresh.
The water glistens in the sunlight.
You can hear the gentle sound of current as it moves past.

(Pause 10 seconds)

Notice what you’ve been holding inside —
tension in the body, thoughts about your family,
feelings you’ve had no space to feel.

Welcome.
This time is yours.
And right now, you don’t have to do anything

You don’t have to be anything other than present… right here…………..right………….now
We are experiencing “non-doing”
Stillness
Quiet
Purely being

One by one, take the thoughts that might be activating you, and place them in the river

Watch them float away

No rush, no force — just the current gently carrying them elsewhere

(Pause 10 seconds)

With each inhale, feel the river’s gentle current filling you with calm and renewal.

With each exhale, release what no longer serves you, letting it drift away with the flow.

Release the things you no longer need to carry.

And again

and again

and again

Inhale……… Be still. (inhale sound)

Exhale………Held by Love (exhale sound)

If your mind drifts,
that’s great,
you noticed
and your already back again, returning to the waterside.
Watch it move.
Let it remind you that nothing stays stuck forever.

You can always return to your breath.

In

Out

(Pause 10 seconds)

Now, feel Love flowing through you,
softening what has been hard,
washing what feels unclean
refreshing
renewing

Be still.

Held by Love.

(Pause 20 seconds)

Be still. (inhale sound)
Held by Love. (exhale sound)

(Pause 10 seconds)

Great. Well done.

When you feel ready, begin to bring gentle movement back into your body, softly open your eyes. Allow the Love within you to guide each step, each action, and each interaction, carrying away what no longer serves and nourishing what you need to not just survive this season of your life……..

But to thrive.

Notice how your body feels now, how your mind has softened, and how Love continues to move through you — steady, nourishing, ever-present.

Carry this sense of calm and renewal with you as you return to your day.

May you move forward with ease, grace, and the gentle, sustaining flow of Love.

Namaste.

Conclusion
